The Great Eastern Shipping Company Limited (GE Shipping) has entered into a contract to acquire a secondhand Kamsarmax Dry Bulk Carrier. The vessel, built in Japan in 2014, has a deadweight tonnage (dwt) of approximately 81,094 and is expected to be integrated into the company's fleet by the first quarter of the fiscal year 2027 (Q1 FY27). The acquisition will be funded entirely through the company's internal accruals, with the primary objective being fleet expansion. This strategic move will increase GE Shipping's current fleet size to 42 vessels. The company's existing fleet comprises 41 vessels, including 27 Tankers (5 Crude Tankers, 17 Product Tankers, and 5 LPG Carriers) and 14 Dry Bulk Carriers (2 Capesize, 9 Kamsarmax, 1 Ultramax, and 2 Supramax), totaling 3.25 million dwt. The company is currently operating at near full capacity utilization of close to 100%. In a separate transaction, GE Shipping has also contracted to sell its Very Large Gas Carrier, "Jag Vishnu." This sale is anticipated to be finalized during the fourth quarter of the fiscal year 2026 (Q4 FY26).
