General Insurance Corporation of India (GIC Re) has announced an extension for Shri Hitesh Ramesh Chandra Joshi in his additional charge as Chairman-cum-Managing Director (CMD). The Ministry of Finance, via a letter dated 6th May 2026, approved this extension for a period of three months, effective from 1st April 2026. This extension will be in effect until a regular incumbent assumes the charge or until further orders, whichever is earlier. Shri Hitesh Ramesh Chandra Joshi, who is an Executive Director at GIC Re, holds a postgraduate degree in Accountancy from Mumbai University and a master’s degree in Financial Management from Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies. He is also a Fellow of the Insurance Institute of India. His extensive career at GIC Re includes diverse roles in reinsurance, finance, risk management, strategic planning, internal audit, investor relations, and executive assistance to the CMD. In his capacity as Executive Director, he has overseen critical functions such as Human Resource Management, International Business Operations, Information Technology, Claims, Legal, and Mergers & Acquisitions.
