Hindustan Unilever Limited (HUL) has submitted its Business Responsibility and Sustainability Report (BRSR) for the financial year ended March 31, 2026. This report, prepared in accordance with SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015, also forms part of the company's Integrated Annual Report. The BRSR highlights HUL's commitment to sustainable growth, with its strategy anchored in the belief that growth and responsibility must go hand in hand. The company focuses on four key pillars: Climate, Nature, Plastics, and Livelihoods. In manufacturing operations, HUL reported significant reductions in environmental impact compared to its 2008 baseline: CO2 emissions reduced by 99% per tonne of production, water usage by 58% per tonne of production, and total waste generated by 53% per tonne of production. Key initiatives include transitioning to renewable energy, with all manufacturing sites now coal-free and using 100% renewable electricity. HUL is also collaborating on projects like Project Circular Bharat to accelerate circularity in plastics and is working with NITI Aayog to support circular economy startups. In terms of nature, 97% of its supply chain for key crops like palm oil and tea is deforestation-free. Water stewardship programs have led to significant water consumption reduction, with two sites achieving Alliance for Water Stewardship Platinum certification. Social impact programs continue to be a focus, with Project Shakti empowering rural women and Prabhat initiative positively impacting over 1.2 crore people. SAFAL has benefited 3.2 lakh young people with skills development. The Suvidha model for urban hygiene and sanitation now serves over 6 lakh people in Mumbai and is being replicated nationally. The report also details the assurance provided by M/s. BSR & Co. LLP, Chartered Accountants, for the BRSR Core parameters (reasonable assurance) and other BRSR parameters (limited assurance) for the financial year 2025-26.
