KEC International Limited has announced that its wholly-owned subsidiary, KEC Spur Infrastructure Private Limited, has received an order from the Income Tax Department, Assessment Unit, raising a tax demand of ₹46.19 crore for the financial year 2022-23. The demand primarily arises from ad-hoc additions/disallowances of normal business expenditures and alleged unverified creditors. The company has been intimated about the order on April 9, 2026. KEC International believes the tax demand is ad-hoc and based on estimations, and that the subsidiary will be able to substantiate the expenses. The company is in the process of filing necessary appeals and expects the demand to be deleted post-redressal. KEC International does not foresee any material financial impact on account of this order, as the subsidiary believes the matter is strong on merits. The subsidiary will contest the demand by taking appropriate legal remedial actions.
