Shri Deepak Gupta has assumed the charge as the Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of GAIL (India) Limited effective March 1, 2026. This appointment follows an earlier communication on February 12, 2026. Mr. Gupta, a Mechanical Engineer from Delhi College of Engineering, brings over 35 years of extensive experience in the Oil & Gas value chain, encompassing project management, global procurement, technology selection, business development, and operations. Prior to this role, Mr. Gupta served as Director (Projects) at GAIL since February 2022, where he has been instrumental in executing significant initiatives including natural gas and LPG pipelines, gas processing units, critical SCADA infrastructure, and green energy projects aimed at achieving Net-Zero goals. He has also overseen the operations and maintenance of over 20,000 km of natural gas and LPG pipelines. Under his leadership, GAIL completed the Dabhol Breakwater Project for its subsidiary Konkan LNG Limited, enabling all-weather operations, and has pioneered digital transformation initiatives. Mr. Gupta's board-level experience includes serving as Chairman of Maharashtra Natural Gas Limited and Green Gas Limited, Chairman of Talcher Fertilizers Ltd., and as a Director on the boards of ONGC Petro-additions Limited (OPaL) and South-East Asia Gas Pipeline Company Limited (SEAGP). His previous career at Engineers India Limited for 32 years involved leading major projects such as the Dangote Refinery & Petrochemical Complex in Nigeria and HMEL’s Mega Petrochemical Complex. He also led Mongolia's first greenfield refinery project. Shri Deepak Gupta has no disclosed relationships with other Directors of GAIL and is not debarred from holding the office of Director by any statutory authority.
