Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) announced that Shri Sanjay Khanna has been appointed as Chairman & Managing Director (C&MD) of the company. The appointment is effective from April 9, 2026, and will continue until his superannuation on May 31, 2029, or until further orders, as per the letter from the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas (MoP&NG). Shri Khanna, who was previously Director (Refineries) from February 22, 2022, had been holding the additional charge of C&MD since May 1, 2025. He is a Chemical Engineering graduate from NIT Trichirapalli and holds a Postgraduate degree in Finance Management from Mumbai University. He brings over three decades of experience in refinery operations and technical services, having overseen significant projects and headed refineries in Kochi and Mumbai. Under his leadership, BPCL has planned investments of ₹75,000 crore over the next five years, including the substantial ₹50,000 crore Bina Petrochemical and Refinery Expansion Project (BPREP) in Madhya Pradesh. Shri Khanna also serves on the boards of Bharat PetroResources Limited, Petronet LNG Limited, and Ratnagiri Refinery and Petrochemicals Limited, and chairs the MoP&NG's 'Technical Committee for Petroleum Refineries'. He is not debarred from directorship and holds 15,050 shares in the company.
